Face it - like any other sport, inline skating exposes you to certain hazards. Fortunately,
protective gear exists that can prevent or reduce many injuries. For starters, helmets
and wrist guards should be worn at all times while skating. These two pieces of equipment
are so important that they are mandatory at all ESNY sponsored skating events.
In addition, night skaters are encouraged to wear a flashing red light and reflective clothing.
Because falling is an inevitable part of the sport, knee and elbow pads are also
recommended - especially for beginners.
Skate carefully, be aware, and use the proper gear to protect yourself from injury. |
